SPR launches survey ahead of Madrona Park beach play area enhancements

Seattle Parks and Recreation has launched a survey ahead of two public meetings to discuss new design features to improve access and amenities at the Madrona Park beach play area.

“The project provides a unique opportunity to restore the lakeside beach play features and to improve access to the park,” according to an SPR news release.

The project includes improving accessible parking and a pathway to the play area south of Spectrum Dance at 853 Lake Washington Blvd.

The survey asks respondents what activities they do there, things they like about the play area, and what activities they’d like the opportunity to do there.

A community meeting at the beach from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, will showcase design features informed by public feedback. The preferred design will be shared with the public during a second meeting 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Spectrum Dance Studio.

Enhancements to the Madrona Park beach play area is being provided by the Seattle Park District, which has directed $550,000 toward planning, design and construction.
