Seattle Public Schools’ immunization deadline approaching

Seattle Public Schools is working to get all students caught up with their required immunizations. Any child who does not have an updated status by Jan. 8 will not be allowed to attend school.

The State Board of Health approved immunization policy to take effect on Aug. 1, 2020, which now requires verified immunization records for school and child care entry.

Online registration for the 2020-21 school year for students new to SPS starts on Jan. 6, and open enrollment for school choice is Feb. 3. This is for children who will be 5 years old by Aug. 31.

Kaiser Permanente will host one more free immunization clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Aki Kurose Middle School, 3928 S. Graham St.

International Community Health Services will host a free immunization clinic 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Seattle World School, 1700 E. Union St. Drop-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged: call 206-332-7160.
