SPU offering Waste-Free Communities Matching Grant

Seattle Public Utilities is accepting applications through March 22 for the Waste-Free Communities Matching Grant, which funds community-based waste-prevention projects.

The grant program aims to support communities and innovation around waste prevention and increase access to benefits and opportunities to reduce waste.

Qualifying projects must test or expand on new approaches or technologies for waste prevention and engage at least one of the following communities: communities of color, immigrants, refugees, low-income, people with disabilities, seniors, young adults, youth, children, and/or small businesses.

They must also provide free or low-cost resources or job training to homeless or low-income communities.

Funding is set at $5,000-$20,000, and recipients must match those amounts at 50 percent, either financially or through in-kind donations.
