The eighth annual Leschi ArtWalk will take place 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, along Lakeside Avenue South and inside Leschi Park.

People will find artists displaying their jewelry, wooden bowls, prints, leatherwork, block prints and watercolors. Lanier’s Fine Candies will be on hand to sweeten the pot

A giant slide, face-painting, dance workshop, crafts and games will be located in Leschi Park, where three bands will perform: Opepo, Elig Meissner Jazz Duo and The Rio Thing, a Brazilian jazz group.

The Washington Diamonds Drill Team will also provide a demonstration. They were voted best drill team at the 2018 Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade.

“Visit the Leschi Community Council table to see historic 1899 photos of the Leschi Park that was then with the large dance pavilion where Sarah Bernhardt performed, the zoo and the band stand,” writes Leschi Community Council member Diane Snell. “Leschi Park was a destination place for city-dwellers looking to escape the summer heat. You will see a photo of the cable car they would ride from downtown to Leschi Pier, a thrilling ride indeed!”
