Primary election unofficial results (Aug. 4): Incumbents Macri, Chopp leading in District 43 races, Inslee, Jayapal also set to advance

• The two incumbent state representatives for Legislative District 43 positions 1 and 2, Nicole Macri and Frank Chopp, are leading their respective races after Tuesday’s primary election. According to unofficial results released Tuesday evening, Democrat Macri will easily advance to the general election in November by leading challengers Leslie Klein and Brandon Franklin with 91.93 percent of the vote. Chopp will also advance to the general election. Of his two challengers, Sherae Lascelles has an edge over Jessi Murray with 27.82 percent of the vote.

• In the highly contested governor’s race, with 36 candidates making up the field, incumbent Gov. Jay Inslee has opened with a commanding lead across the state, picking up 51.92 percent of the vote. His closest challenger, whom he will likely face in the general election, is Republican Loren Culp, who campaigned in Eatonville this spring. Culp is leading the field of challengers with 16.71 percent of the vote. As of Tuesday, his closest opponent is Republican Tim Eyman with 7.04 percent.

She leads in King County with 81.41 percent. Her next closest opponent, who she will likely face in November’s general election, is Republican Craig Keller, who garnered 8.13 percent in District 10, 7.45 percent in King County.
